Lovely Holly has joined the team, she has covered a few classes and starting September she'll be on the timetable permanently. Here is a little about her
Hi Holly, are you from St Albans?
I'm a born and bred London girl! I was born in the Chelsea and Westminster hospital and have lived in and around Fulham till I was about 10 years old when I moved to Cheltenham where my grandparents are based. I moved back to Fulham with school friends in 2021 and have been working and living in London since.
Reformer has been big in London for a while now, how long have you practiced?
I began practicing when I moved to back to London in 2021. After years of loving it I decided to embark on a Mat and Reformer course which took place at the beginning of last year. The course has enabled me to learn all the details and intricacies of the practise, I like that I can share my passion and guide other reformer lovers with my knowledge
What is your favourite Reformer exercise?
It has to be a bridge. There are many variations of it - whether you incorporate a ball, a ring, or go into it with a leg extension, it's a good base for a fab series. It is great for the core and glute muscles too
Do you do any other forms of fitness?
Yes, during school I played netball which I love. I enjoy the team aspect and bond you form with fellow players. Since moving to London I have joined a local club, I play with all of my old school friends . It’s a great way to see friends midweek and do something productive that makes you feel great after. My Pilates practise is amazing for Netball as it has hugely improved my balance which is very transferable onto the netball court
It seems you are primarily based in London but when you are in St Albans do you have time to eat? I am such a foodie! I grew up with my mum owning restaurants, she started a Japanese restaurant chain when we moved to Cheltenham so I might be biased with my love of Asian food. I am yet to find an amazing Japanese restaurant in St Albans, (hopefully one comes soon). I am a huge supporter of local, independent restaurants - La Cosa Nostra is this authentic Italian restaurant closer to the station. The food is some of the best Italian food I have had in England and the whole experience is so special
You seem to live a varied life, what's a Motto to live by? Take every second at a time’. This is something my mother has taught me and really helps me to get through any challenging situation. If you are safe / okay in the current second, you are okay, and by living in the current second you can get through anything. Sometimes looking into the future can be worrying and this is a great technique to tackle any challenges that come your way
I feel calmer already. Watch out for Holly on the timetable in September
